The end of the year is a time for reflection, and today I’d like to celebrate the incredible achievements we’ve shared in 2024 and invite you to help us continue our important work in 2025.
2024 Highlights for West London Queer Project (WLQP):
5,000 registrations across the year, reflecting growing interest in our events
187 events held, including 76 free and 88 part-funded by WLQP
31% of event attendees were new to WLQP
We built impactful new partnerships with organizations like NHS Wellbeing & Recovery College, Queens Park Rangers, Chelsea Football Club, Disney Pride, Portobello Pub Company, Ealing Project, Hammersmith BID, and Kensington & Chelsea Council
We received recognition through several awards, including from the Hammersmith and Fulham Council Civic Honours, the London Faith & Belief Forum, and the Bank of London Rainbow Honours for Best Small Brand/Business
Most importantly, we connected individuals across West London, helping them form lasting friendships and find support within the LGBTQ+ communityNone of this would have been possible without funding. In the past, we’ve been supported by the National Lottery and Sport England, allowing us to subsidize training sessions and offer free events. This funding has been critical for the success of our programs, including our sports initiatives like Touch Rugby and Football.
Looking Ahead to 2025: We are currently applying for new funding to sustain and expand WLQP’s impact. This funding will support:
The continuation of free and part-funded events
The introduction of two new roles: a Community Engagement Officer and a Funding and Partnerships Manager— both essential to ensuring we continue to reach those who can benefit from what we do, and that we can secure different and sustainable income sources for the future
Enhancing our communication with you, starting with a clearer website and a centralized hub for all things WLQP
How You Can Help: One key factor in securing additional funding is demonstrating our ability to raise match funding—the money we can generate independently. We’re already working on this through events like our fundraising effort last year, but we need your support to go further.
I’m reaching out today to ask if you would consider making a monthly donation of £5 to WLQP, at the link below. Your contribution will help us continue offering vital services and ensure we reach those who may otherwise struggle to access such opportunities.
We often hear from many of you how much WLQP has made a positive difference in your lives, and together, we can ensure this impact continues into the future. Later this year, I’ll share more about our funding process and strategies, but for now, if you’re able to support us, you can set up your donation at the link below.
Thank you for being part of WLQP, and we look forward to seeing you at an event soon!
Love Aubrey, Joe and the team at WLQP.
